An engagement session in London’s hipster district
Escape in Shoreditch > Love inside <
A photographic love at first sight
It must be said that I am super-fan of bricks, rock music and so cool places based on industrial deco and gluten-free recipes, I could not make a better meeting than the one with Anaïs and Renaud.
They are crazy too about these places of madness, which finish their style perfectly well, and it’s at the wedding festival L’Amour L’Amour La Mode of Lyon that they understood that we were made for each other !
Yes because, let it be said, choosing your wedding photographer is above all choosing someone who matches with you, who is on the same wavelength as you, and whose work you love. It is the sinequanone condition to have images that rocks and be able to let go with confidence on the day of your wedding.
It also works the other way since they get married on the day of my birthday, and I was so amazed by them that I will sacrifice my birthday (or rather offer me a crazy wedding, we can see it rather like this). And really without regret !
So for this engagement session, I suggested to my married-to-be to go where they want, as long as it suits them. And of course, they chose the Shoreditch district in London.
Is it worth mentioning that one of my three wedding photography formulas is precisely that name?
But what is an engagement session?
To tell the truth, I find this word hyper ugly “engagement session”, even scary.
This is a term used to refer to a photoshoot that takes place before the wedding.
And I love these sessions, because we do what we want, we get to know each other, we determine our limits, we can do crazy, we can try photographic experiments, go where we want, and take the time we need. It allows my married-to-be couple to discover me, my incredible sense of humor (never knew if you laughed by politeness or because i’m actually super-upper-funny) and my kid eye, it allows them to be comfortable with the lens, to apprehend also the future wedding session.
Once you’ve done it once, that you’ve been a little intimidated, that finally you’ve seen that it’s not so bad, and that in addition, you discover that you are so f****** gorgeous, the D-day goes alone !
And it is definitely a good time to have that confirms our good feelings.
London, my love
So it’s been a month since we left (taking the sun with us) to discover and re-discover the hidden and ephemeral treasures of this neighborhood.
Ephemeral, because this city is in permanent movement, between the street art which appears in a street to disappear under the features of a new graffitic work and the small vintage shops that grow at every street corner and which one does not leave empty-handed.
London, it’s going once to discover, and go back there to discover new things in the same places.
So we walked randomly between Shoreditch, Hoxton and Hackney.
Shoreditch seems to be popular with students and grown-up hipsters, who then migrate to Hackney’s new boho neighborhood, in cool, yet kids-friendly places 😉
So I think it became my favorite neighborhood in the world, dethroning the yet so cool Williamsburg neighborhood of New York, where I had already had a session that I also loved to see here.
You too are having an ultra cool hipster rock wedding ?
If that’s your style too, then we’re probably meant to get along!
You have a glimpse of a hipsta-cool rock wedding that I did last year to see here.
And then you can go to the contact page and tell me all the pretty mess you have in mind!
Now eyes wide open !
